The Revolution of Certainty: Why Do We Fear "Manifesting" Faith in an Age of Open Sin?

By: Mohamed Issa

In today’s world, it has become incredibly easy for individuals to share a hyper-consumerist lifestyle or even document wrong and forbidden behaviors without batting an eye. However, when it comes to sharing a "Quranic verse" or a Prophetic tradition in "Stories," many of us are struck by a sudden hesitation.

I was once among those who experienced this hesitation. I feared including the Quran in my digital daily life because, naturally, if a person sees someone talking about religion, their mind automatically assumes something is wrong. This hesitation doesn't necessarily stem from weak faith, but is the result of complex psychological and structural pressures within the "Collective Mind" that surrounds us.

Therefore, I decided to dissect this situation psychologically and socially, to understand why they judge us, and why we must liberate ourselves from their dominance.

First: Dissecting the Mindset of the "Other" (Why do they attack us?)

When people see someone posting religious content, they do not perceive the content objectively. Instead, complex defense mechanisms and cognitive biases are triggered in their minds, explaining their aggressive or cynical reactions:

1. The Trap of "The Horn Effect"

In psychology, the "Horn Effect" occurs when we judge a person entirely based on one visible trait. Regarding religion—due to distorted models or "extremism" witnessed by some—the subconscious performs a "distorted generalization." As soon as religious content is seen, the mind automatically projects negative traits (such as hypocrisy or feigning piety) onto the publisher before they even speak a word. They don't see *you*; they see the "stereotype" they despise.

2. Cognitive Dissonance

This is the deeper cause. When a person distant from God sees a reminder of Him (like a Quranic verse appearing suddenly among trivial clips), a disturbing "dissonance" is triggered within. Their subconscious feels guilty because your content reminds them of their own shortcomings. To escape this psychological pain, and instead of blaming themselves, they "demonize" the publisher as a defense mechanism, accusing them of being "fake" to restore their own psychological comfort regarding their current state.

3. The Pressure of "Behavioral Secularism"

We live in an era where religion is often viewed as a "strictly private" affair. Going public with one's faith is seen as a breach of modern social protocol. This causes the "fool" to perceive your action as an anomaly that must be corrected through cynical criticism to bring you back to the "herd."

Second: The Strategy of Confrontation (Why Manifesting Obedience is Mandatory Now)

Manifesting obedience in an age of open sin is not just a "challenge" to society; it is a psychological, social, and spiritual necessity to restore balance:

  • 1. Resetting the "Norm" (Normalizing Righteousness) The subconscious is heavily influenced by what it sees frequently (Availability Heuristic). If our platforms are filled only with sin and triviality, the subconscious of the next generation will accept this as "the norm." Your manifestation of the Quran breaks this dominance and creates a "visual balance" that redefines what is natural in the minds of your followers.
  • 2. The Weapon of "Silent Role Modeling" Many people want to return to God but fear the societal gaze I mentioned earlier. When they see me breaking this barrier with total confidence, I am giving them "psychological permission" to do the same. We aren't preaching with words here, but with our courage in the Truth.
  • 3. Self-Sovereignty Psychologically, an individual who declares their principles without fear experiences higher Self-Esteem. Manifesting obedience is a declaration of independence from the "authority of people" and submission only to the "Authority of the Creator." As the golden rule states: "If you do not occupy yourself with the Truth, it will occupy you with falsehood."

Third: Facts and References

For those seeking a foundation for what I have mentioned, whether from Divine Revelation or Science, the facts are clear:

إِن تُبْدُوا الصَّدَقَاتِ فَنِعِمَّا هِيَ (Translation of Meaning: "If you disclose your charitable expenditures, they are good.") [Al-Baqarah: 271]

Scholars have used this verse to prove that showing righteous deeds with the intention of being a role model and encouraging others is commendable, especially when the landmarks of goodness have faded.

"كُلُّ أَمَّتِي مُعَافًى إِلَّا الْمُجَاهِرِينَ" (Translation of Meaning: "All of my Ummah are safe except those who sin openly.")

This refers to those who manifest sin. By logical inverse, manifesting obedience to stabilize people in times of fitna (trials) is among the greatest acts of worship.

* From a Psychological and Sociological Perspective:
To understand the "herd mentality" and why they attack the different, I recommend reading "The Crowd" by Gustave Le Bon, which explains how individual consciousness dissolves into collective folly. Additionally, psychologist Jordan Peterson offers a profound take on the importance of "carrying moral values in public" as a final bulwark against societal collapse, even if the mob dislikes it.

CONCLUSION:
In an age where sin has become blatant and public, we must proclaim our obedience openly. So, to hell with everyone’s judgment—I will share whatever I want, for our battle today is the battle of "Manifesting the Truth."
